The renovation of the two apartment buildings at Neudorfstrasse 3 and 5 is complete: 17 homes in the heart of Menzingen's historic village centre.

Facade detail with green shutters and pent roofs

After several years of planning and construction, the two buildings at Neudorfstrasse 3 and 5 in Menzingen are complete. Outside, the historic façades were restored in close collaboration with the cantonal heritage authorities; inside, 17 modern, comfortable homes have been created.

“A new building would have been absurd here,” says architect Sebastian Langemann. The ensemble of the convent and historic houses, he explains, defines the identity of the village and must be preserved. During the works, old log walls came to light – hundreds of years old and papered with newspapers from 1852. The distinctive hanging signs of the “Swan” and the “Key” were also restored and are back in their place.

Inside, oak, white matt walls and darker accents create a sense of calm and warmth. Find out more on the project page.
