Menzingen: history, carefully renewed
The renovation of the two apartment buildings at Neudorfstrasse 3 and 5 is complete: 17 homes in the heart of Menzingen's historic village centre.

Two historic buildings in the heart of Menzingen, carefully restored and reimagined inside: 17 homes, delivered in close collaboration with the heritage authorities.
In the historic heart of Menzingen, we brought two apartment buildings on Neudorfstrasse into the present day – respecting the valuable historic fabric on the outside while creating modern, comfortable interiors. The result is 17 homes.
“A new building would have been absurd here,” says architect Sebastian Langemann. Working closely with the cantonal heritage authorities, we fully restored the façades. During the works, old log walls came to light – hundreds of years old and papered with newspapers from 1852. The distinctive hanging signs of the “Swan” and the “Key” were restored by a specialist and returned to their original place.
Inside, the palette is limited to three surfaces: oak, white matt walls and darker accents – materials that were already used here 175 years ago. Wherever possible, we used timber and recycled or recyclable materials. The old stays old – simply refreshed.
